Elmer W. Wright, 86, of Hopkins, died Tuesday, April 11, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Mr. Wright was born Nov. 26, 1930 in Allegan, the son of the late Albert and Genevieve (Buck) Wright. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Wisconsin. Elmer and his wife, Norma, have been married for almost 63 years, having shared many precious memories. He spent his working years as a maintenance supervisor for various companies.
Elmer, a 1950 graduate of Hopkins High School, could be called a real “character” and was loved for his quick wit and playful nature.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Norma; their children, Dennis Wright, Karen and Dan Davis; two grandchildren, Alfred “Bubba” Watson III, Travis and Holly Watson; two great-grandchildren, Ace and Audi Watson; three brothers, Frank Wright, Jim Wright, and Chuck Wright; one sister, Viola Blatt.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Wright; brother, Bart Wright; and sister, Maggie Bagley.
Friends may meet with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Dan Davis leading the celebration. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Township.
