Service will be Saturday for ‘Bones’ Cardiff

Herman “Bones” Cardiff, age 83, died at his home in Shelbyville Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Bones enjoyed traveling all over the United States with Nancy in their motor home. He was known for his happy and wonderful personality. He loved people, his family, and telling stories. Bones made many intricate model ships and boats, full to the keel with detail.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Most importantly, he loved his family and spending time with them – especially happy hours.

Bones will be remembered by his wife, Nancy Cardiff; son, Thomas Cardiff; daughter, Andrea Kemp; stepchildren Scott (Tammy) Elders, Pam (Mark) Austin; grandchildren Danny Visser, Cory Visser, Bradley Elders, Kurt (Robin) Elders; great-granddaughter, Mallory Visser; and many extended relatives and friends.

Bones was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Martha Cardiff; brothers Bill Cardiff, Tony Cardiff, Doug Cardiff, Duane Cardiff; and sister, Sharon Fenner.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Bones will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 17, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services (Wayland Chapel), 312 N. Main St., with visitation one hour prior to the service.

In memory of Bones and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Otsego VFW Post 3030.
