Bernard Baker, age 88, died Friday, March 18, just 12 days shy of his 89th birthday.

Bernard loved his family and passed on his work ethic and valuable life lessons. He served his country in the United States Army. Bernard was stationed in Germany and remained connected throughout his life to a few very good friends from his service.

He is survived by his children Brenda Baker, James (Amy) Baker, Nancy (Mark) Miller, and Bonnie (Jeff) Veenkant; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Baker, and sister, Shirley Gigowski.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, with an hour of visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 4125 18th St, Dorr. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery.

In honor of Bernard and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice.
