Service will be Thursday for Gene Little of Wayland

Charles Eugene “Gene” Little, 71, from Wayland, died Wednesday, Sept. 1.

He was born in Gary, Ind., Nov. 19, 1949, to Luther and Bessie Little.

Gene was a graduate of Plainwell High School, Class of ’69. He served in the Navy for two years. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, spending time with family, bonfires, telling jokes and stories, playing cards and words with friends/scrabble, baseball and horseshoes.

Surviving is his wife of 30 years, Tammy Little; and their children Luke Little and Betsy Little; ex-wife, Judy Langford; and their children Jason Little and Jody (Jason) Swinney; in-laws Ken and Mary Brinks; several grandchildren; two living siblings Tom Little and Bonnie Carpenter; plus many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings Nancy, Bob, Lily, Martha and Elvis.

Visitation with Gene’s family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St., Wayland.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, with an hour visitation prior, at Wayland United Methodist Church, 200 N. Church St. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to cover funeral expenses.
