Service will be Thursday for Robert Schafer, 81, of Wayland

Robert “Bob” Jophoto_20160926_wm0077679_0_20160926hn Schafer, age 81 of Wayland, died Monday, Sept. 26.
Bob was in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He worked for Pet Milk for 16 years and was an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Insurance for 25 years. Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church. He enjoyed golfing, playing euchre, hunting, fishing, and time spent in Florida.
Bob is survived by his children: Beth Ladousier (Todd LaFountaine), Kenneth (Debbie) Schafer, and Thomas Schafer (Mark Tuttle); his grandchildren: Robert (Kelly) Miklusicak, Sarah Miklusicak (Jerad Johnson), Cody Schafer, and Morgan Schafer; his great-grandchildren: Trey Miklusicak, Wesley Miklusicak, and Alexis Miller; his special friend Mary Poll; his brother James (Carolyn) Schafer; his sisters: Marilyn (Dick) Oatmen and Nancy (Jack) Nicholai; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda and his parents Ervin and Louise Schafer.
Friends may visit with Bob’s family from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, Wayland. His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, 1235 135th Ave., Wayland, with Pastor Rick Scheibe officiating. Family will greet friends an hour before the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church or Mel Trotter Ministries.
