Services Monday for Ray Bronkhorst, 86

Raymond “Ray” Bronkhorst, age 86, died Thursday, June 12.

Ray loved spending time outdoors, from hobby farming, hunting, and cutting wood (every single day!). He worked at both Smith Lumber and Coal and Rockwell International for a number of years. He served his country in the United States Army.

Ray deeply loved and cherished his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Ray is by his wife of 63 years, Pearl (nee Lodenstein) Bronkhorst; three children Jan (Rick) Dorothy, Jerry (Mary) Bronkhorst, Dan (Trudy) Bronkhorst; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Katherine Bronkhorst; siblings John Bronkhorst, Mary Burbank, and Jim Bronkhorst.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, at Wayland Christian Reformed Church, 303 E. Elm St., with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Ray will be laid to rest at Hicks Cemetery in Watson Township.

In memory of Ray and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Hope of Dorr and Christian Neighbors of Wayland.
