Evelyn R. Brenner of Hopkins, died Monday, May 11, at Brairwood Assisted Living in Allegan. She was 92.
Mrs. Brenner was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Sparta, the daughter of Conrad and Clara Schwartz. Evelyn graduated from Hopkins High School, Class of 1940. She was a life member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hopkins, where she had played the organ for more than 25 years. She was involved in the MSU extension office and 4-H, and worked many voter polls in Monterey Township.
She was a farmer’s wife, loved to garden, can the produce, and helped with the many chores. She also knitted more than 800 baby hats.
Surviving are her three children: Nancy Cyrus and her fiance, John West, Janet Dell, Thomas and Kathy Brenner; four grandchildren, Jamie Sue, April, Lee, and Nate; two great grandchildren; her brother: Elwood Schwartz; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers: Howard and Harlow.
Friends may meet with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hopkins. Interment in the Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Hospice of Holland.
