Services Wednesday for Vietnam vet Richard Peake

Richard Earl Peake, 73, died Friday, July 23, at his home in Wayland after a long battle with cancer.

Richard served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had many hobbies, including hunting and fishing. Richard also loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

He enjoyed tinkering with his Volkswagon Beetles among other projects in his garage.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Peake; children Therese (Bryan) Pelikan, Christy Cox, Trisha Peake, Tony Fales; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Bethel Peake; seven brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Wayland Chapel, 312 N. Main St., Wayland, MI 49348, with visitation one hour prior to the service. In memory of Richard and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
