Judy Shafer, age 65, died Friday, Jan. 6.

Judy was a giver of all givers! She gave a kidney to her husband, Ron, 24 years ago. She had a huge passion for sewing. Judy loved her title of wife and mother, but most of all she absolutely loved her title of “Granny.”

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ron Shafer; children Brian (Kara) Peterman, Emily (Dennis) Behler, and Brandon Shafer (Danie Pattee); grandchildren Madison and Mason Peterman and Oliver, Cora, and Elin Behler; sister, Cindy (John) Fogg; brothers- and sisters-in-law Karen (Jerry) Hendrick, Doug (Chris) Shafer, Don Shafer, Wayne Moore, and Brad Lewis; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Alberta Nutz; sister, Bonnie Lewis, and brother, Tommy Nutz.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St., Wayland. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Wayland United Methodist Church, 200 N. Church St., with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Judy, contributions may be made to Wayland United Methodist Church or National Kidney Foundation.
