Larry Henderson died Monday at his home in Dorr. He was 78.
Larry retired after 45 years of service from Spartan Stores. He also served his Lord and community through more than 20 years of service on Wayland Area Ambulance as an EMT and instructor. He worked many years serving athletes at the Michigan Special Olympics.
Larry enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Larry also enjoyed serving in faith for the Knights of Columbus and working with the youth in the Columbian Squires.
He is survived by his second wife, Debra Henderson; brothers Terry (Deb), Bruce (Janet), and Daniel Henderson; children Lori (Chris) Gesink, Lisa (David) Zanger, and Larry Henderson II; grandchildren Nick (Allie) Gesink, Kristin (Drew) Lockwood, Matthew (Sarah) Gesink, Ben Gesink, Alexandria Walters, Mickaela (Michael) Cole, Luke (Lexi) Vanvolkinburg, Jessica, Jacob, and Danielle Henderson; great-grandchildren Beau Gesink, Tilley and Lucy Lockwood, Jude Gesink, Jordan, Lucas, Mckenzie Vanvolkinburg; and family friend and loving support, Teri Stevens.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Pansy Henderson; sister, Diane Garter; and first wife, Linda Henderson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday March 23, with a Rosary at 7:45 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday March 24, with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to service, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr.
