Wayland City Police are asking for the public’s help in an investigation of a complaint of a sexual assault on the Rabbit River Trail off East Elm Street.
Authorities said the victim contended the assault occurred at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday when two men approached her while she was walking on the trail. She said the suspects afterward ran north along the river.
The victim described one alleged assailant as a white man in his mid- to late-20s, standing about 5’10” with dark hair below the ears, clean shaven and wearing a brown coat.
The second white man man was believed to be in his mid- to late-20s between 5’6″ and 5’9″ with a larger waist and short black hair, clean shaven and wearing a blue, black and white plaid coat.
Anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious around that time in that area is asked to call Allegan County Central Dispatch at (269) 673-3899 or the Wayland Police Department’s main office at (269)792-9366, or through Silent Observer at 1-855-SILENT.0.
What I could predict might happen has. Wayland is not the safe little town it once was. If you are going on the trail, please walk with another person, especially if you are female. I know that sounds sexist, however, be safe than sorry. Whenever i walk it my vehicle is locked and i’m locked and loaded. With all the break-ins and theft from and of vehicles, lock your vehicle EVERY time you leave it, whether in a parking lot or your driveway. And don’t leave valuables and money in the vehicle. A fool and his or her money/valuables are soon departed.
DTOM,
How dare you carry a firearm and be able to protect yourself……..What gives YOU the right?
If only the victim could have been locked and loaded and defended themselves we would be reading a different outcome to this story.
Cheers!!
Everybody that is eligible can go through the CC permitting process and be trained. If you haven’t a police record, you are probably eligible.
