Margaret “Maggie” Bott, sister of the late Helen Jane Helmey, died at age 102 in Grand Rapids Friday, Jan. 18.

Mrs. Bott often spent Saturdays working in the office at the Wayland Globe.

Maggie was a former president of the Ladies Literary Club, a Civic Theater member and longtime contributor of the Grand Rapids Symphony. She was a 1933 graduate of South High School and a reading volunteer at Congress School.

She is survived by her children, Thomas A. (Dixie) Bott II and Timothy J. (Nancy) Bott; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews and 40 great-nieces and nephews; as well as special caregiver and longtime friend, Teresa Rohloff.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Konkle; sisters Helen Jane Helmey and Marian Rohloff.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being made by the family for a memorial this spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Maggie’s name to Hospice of Michigan, Donation Processing Center, 989 Spaulding, SE, Ada, MI 49301.
