It was the first-ever snow day during the Coronavirus pandemic, enabling all public school children to take the day off and do recreation winter activities. Hopkins, Martin and Wayland schools were closed Tuesday as at least four inches of the white wet stuff came tumbling down, forcing residents get out their shovels and blowers. Hopkins bravely tried at first to limit the damage to a two-hour bus delay, but relented and shut down for the day. Some people on Facebook teased local school officials for being “snowflakes,” but a huge number of schools in West Michigan closed as well.
