Snowstorm closes schools, causes traffic headaches

The West Michigan area was pummeled Friday morning with perhaps the heaviest snowfall of the 2017-18 winter season, dropping between six and eight inches in the Wayland, Hopkins and Martin area and closing all three school districts, Wayland for the first time this year. But, as usual, I-94 seemed to get the worst of it, as a serious traffic pileup, involving 32 cars and 19 semi-trucks, occurred east of Kalamazoo not far from Galesburg. As Yankee Springs Fire Chief Dan Miller said, it seems the only things that change are the names and the locations. (Photo courtesy of A.J. Foote)
