After so many complained that the winter 2020-21 season hadn’t produced much in the way of snow and wintry weather, northeast Allegan County was socked with its first genuine snowstorm Thursday evening and into Friday. Wayland, Martin and Hopkins schools were closed and even the all-on-line VAAC was down Friday. Weather watchers reported the area was getting between six and nine inches of the wet and white stuff and there was an added problem with rainy mix, followed by the coldest temperatures of the season. The Wayland/Yankee Springs Fire Department this morning reported, “There are a couple of semi crashes between the Shelbyville and Bradley exits on US-131 with emergency personnel on the scene.”
