Splash pad will remain open as long as weather permits

Splash Pad 99The Wayland City Council has agreed to have two changing rooms installed as an addition to the bathrooms in the City Park next spring and has agreed to allow the popular splash pad to remain open as long as the weather continues to be hot, up to the end of this month.

City Manager Tim McLean said he already has received a bid for a polymer plastic overhead structure for changing from Harbor City Supply, but the city will delay any decision until next spring because it won’t be installed until then. McLean said he will seek more bids in the meantime.

The changing rooms are necessary because of the heavy use of the new splash pad on Church Street. The pad opened to the public in May of this year. It was supposed to shut down over the Labor Day weekend, but McLean noted the continued hot and humid weather has drawn plenty of interest. So it has been agreed that it will remain open as weather permits with a sunset date of Sept. 30.
