The City of Wayland will be visited Monday morning by two Democratic political celebrities, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow.
Both will take part in the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday for the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the Wayland Carpenters and Millwrights Skilled Training Center at 500 Reno Drive near the U.S.-131 expressway.
Stabenow will speak at a news conference which will be followed by the ribbon cutting and a tour of the 67,000-square-foot facility. Whitmer also will make remarks during the event.
Visitors can tour the facility, which includes a huge meeting room. It has high visibility because it can be seen easily from the U.S.-131 expressway just south of the Wayland exit, No. 64. The Wayland Carpenters and Millwrights Training Center will also have a career fair from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7.
