After you read a book, did you ever wonder about why the author wrote the story the way they did or how they came up with the story?
Steeby Elementary students were given that opportunity this week when they held a Skype session with author Josh Funk, whose first book, “Lady Pankcake and Sir French Toast,” was a big hit with the second-graders.
Niki Barnes, media specialist, arranged the skype sessions with Jill Gardner’s and Beth Nykerk’s classes. The students asked the author all kinds of questions. They found out it took almost four years for his book to be completed and that his favorite food is corn!
Josh got the idea for the book one day when his own children couldn’t agree on what they wanted for breakfast.
