Third-graders in Ms. Danielle Hoskins’ class had a salad bar party using the lettuce they grew this year in their classroom. They have a special hydroponic garden where they grew romaine lettuce. Students were responsible for watering and feeding the plants and have watched the lettuce grow. They were able to enjoy the fruits of their labor Friday by harvesting the lettuce, washing it and preparing it for the salad bar. This is the fourth year the teacher has been using the tower garden, which was purchased with a grant from Juice Plus. Mrs. Pat Velie, Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations, and Scott Larson, Food Service Director, assisted in serving the students.
