Summer storm wreaks havoc on Wayland area residents

News sources from all over the state have reported that more than 100,00 Michigan residents were without power Friday morning, afternoon and evening after a severe thunder storm  moved through the area, causing severe damage from fallen trees and limbs. Wayland Board of Education member Cinnamon Mellema took this photo Friday of a tree that blocked traffic on Kalamazoo Avenue in the northeast part of Allegan County, Leighton Township. An even more troubling development was a fallen tree at the end of Aster Street just north of Wayland that crushed the top of a car owned by another Wayland Board of Education member, Pete Zondervan.  (Photo courtesy of Cinnamon Mellema)
