News sources from all over the state have reported that more than 100,00 Michigan residents were without power Friday morning, afternoon and evening after a severe thunder storm moved through the area, causing severe damage from fallen trees and limbs. Wayland Board of Education member Cinnamon Mellema took this photo Friday of a tree that blocked traffic on Kalamazoo Avenue in the northeast part of Allegan County, Leighton Township. An even more troubling development was a fallen tree at the end of Aster Street just north of Wayland that crushed the top of a car owned by another Wayland Board of Education member, Pete Zondervan.
