Wayland senior bowling ace Sydney Urben continues to add to her legend locally in the sport, as she and her teammates cruised to another O-K Gold/Green dual match victory Monday.

The Lady Wildcats remained unbeaten in league contests for the season with a 30-0 triumph, but Urben’s interminable exploits on the lanes again was the biggest story. She twice rolled games of 250 or better to join the special state-wide honor roll, making it five this season of 220 or better.

On the down side, it was learned that Urben no longer has the best game of the season, as Rebecca Hames of Flint Kearsley bowled a perfect 300 a week ago, eclipsing Urben’s 290. But Urben still has the state’s best two-game score of 537, 10 pins better than the runner-up.

“Sydney Urben is simply phenomenal,” said Wildcat boys’ coach Sherry Miklusicak. “She anchors our team for a reason. If you haven’t had the opportunity to see her bowl — you are missing out!

The Lady Wildcats started the night with 201+192=393 in the Bakers. Individuals added up to a total of 901 and a 925 total game.

Other Wayland scores were:

• Mackenzie Banas with 199+159=358
• Marissa Bruinsslot with 164+177=341
• Jessica Henderson with 130+172=302

• Amber Beggs with 140+159=299

“I’m extremely proud of how far this team has came out of the dust,” saod senior Co-Captain Bruinsslot. “We really have been improving and grinding out a lot of fantastic scores. We usually have a problem starting up with good Bakers because it’s right in the beginning.”

Urben in the Baker games, she came up with eight strikes out of eight chances. In her first individual game, she started the first frame with a nine-pin count and spared, then rolled eight more consecutive strikes. In the tenth frame she spared and then another strike for a fine 268 game.

For her game two, frames one and two were spares, then four strikes, spare, and she finished with five more strikes for a fine 258 game.

She ended up with a 526 two-game series, just one pin fewer than the state’s current runner-up recorded. Syd rolled 26 out of a possible 32 strikes this evening with five spares and no opens or misses.

Ladies need a minimum of 250 to make the state cut and Wayland holds seven of the 30 scores across the state! Urben holds five of those while Amber Beggs holds the other two.

In order to qualify for a high series (two-game set), a minimum of 450 needs to be rolled
