Wildcats now riding 7-game softball win streak

The Wayland High School softball team apparently has recovered from its bad day at Bailey Park a week ago. The Lady Wildcats have won seven in a row since, the latest three in the Holland Invitational Saturday. They defeated Niles 11-0, Northville 5-3 and Grand Haven 8-3 to move their overall season record to 11-4.

WHS choral ensembles shine at solo & ensemble

The Wayland High School choir program attended State Solo and Ensemble this past Saturday, April 20, at Allendale High School. Both Honors and Select Choirs did well. Select Choir received a rating of a one, and Honors Choir received a rating of a high two, only two points away from a one. Ten soloists attended this event

The Wayland High School robotics team #6090 has returned home from competition at the FIRST World Championship for FRC in Houston on the Archimedes field. A spokesperson said, “It was an incredible experience. John A. Nowak age 95, died Friday, April 19. John was born on Oct. 12, 1929, to John and Elizabeth (nee Kloska) Nowak in Hopkins Township. He attended Wayland High School and helped with the family farm. John wed Mary (nee Heitz) on Sept. 18, 1954, and eventually settled in a home in East Grand

Wildcat jayvees capture Otsego Invitational title

The Wayland High School junior varsity softball team, coached by Coralie Ritz Miller, Saturday won the Otsego Invitational championship. They went 3-0, beating South Haven, Plainwell and Otsego. One highlight was the pitching of Mackenzie Kozitsky, hurled in three games, 11 innings, and posted 17 strikeouts.
