Teresa Fulk elevated to Wayland schools director of instruction

Teresa-FulkDeanna Ray HayesWord is being circulated that Technology Director Teresa Fulk is being promoted from her current post to director of instruction for the Wayland Union school district.

Fulk succeeds Deanna Ray Hayes, who announced earlier this month that she will retire after serving since 2006.

Fulk already has stepped aside from her job as assistant principal at Wayland Middle School under Carolyn Whyte. Robyn Robinson, who was coordinator of the Career Connections Academy, has taken that post.

Fulk earned a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in 2002 and a master’s degree in instructional technology from Wayne State University. She came to Wayland in 2007 and taught math for three years at Wayland Middle School. She then was named technology teacher consultant, after which she was selected as director of technology and media services, succeeding Mark Washington.

She had served as assistant principal at the middle school for four years.

Fulk also has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Michigan-Flint, which qualifies her for the position Hayes left earlier this summer.

The director of instruction post is likely to involve a significant increase in pay. Hayes had been making $106,000.

There has been no word yet about Fulk’s successor as technology director.
