A young, budding historian, Zakary Kadwell, stopped into the Then & Now historical library in Dorr to check out his grandfather Emmett Kadwell’s one room 1909 school house years.

This led to Zakary bringing his grandfather in to Then & Now help fill in missing student names. Kadwell, a 1967 Wayland High Schoool graduate and former United Methodist Church pastor, had a great time connecting the past with the present.

They said they will be coming back in to continue their efforts.

“We’d like to extend the invitation to anyone that would like to participate in this by offering an open house on (Wednesday) Nov. 8,” a spokesperson for the library said. “The binders we have with the class pictures will be out for the viewing. Our hours on Wednesdays are from 1 until 5 p.m., but we will be open from 5:00 until 8:00 for some school house history fun.

“Stop in any time on that day, we’ll have refreshments to share.”
