As of Tuesday, March 31, at 8:30 a.m., Allegan County is reporting that it has three positive COVID-19 cases.

The County Health Department posted on its web site that these numbers are subject to change and citizens are urged to continue to check back for reliable information related to the Coronavirus.

Terms to know:
PUI: Person Under Investigation. Testing has been collected from these individuals.
Tests not Collected: Healthcare provider cancelled testing.
Total Monitoring Individuals that have been identified as a close contact to someone who has confirmed COVID-19 or a COVID-19 test pending, or a potential travel exposure.

All three confirmed Coronavirus cases have occurred in March of this year.

The Allegan County Health Department announced last week that a 40-year-old with no travel history had been hospitalized. Officials said the individual took proper precautions early on and had minimal community contact.

Health Officer Angelique Joynes said, “It is incredibly important for all of us to follow the Governor’s Executive ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’ Order. If you are ill and a critical infrastructure worker, do not report to work. Call a medical provider or use a telehealth app to get guidance on next steps. Remember to act as if those you interact with have COVID-19. Continue to practice social distancing and good hand hygiene.”

The first positive Coronavirus case in the county, reported earlier this month, is an 85-year-old who also was hospitalized.
