The Wayland Union School Board Friday interviewed four candidates for the superintendent position. The board initially narrowed the field to two candidates, but one candidate withdrew from the process.
The final candidate being considered for the position Tuesday, April 26, is Tim Reeves, superintendent at Shelby Public Schools since 2018.
Reeves previously served as a principal in Hamilton for three years, Kelloggsville for eight years and was assistant principal in Kelloggsville for two years. He also served as a business, social studies and economics teacher in Kelloggsville and Battle Creek for seven years.
The candidate interviews last Friday were about one hour each. Board members asked candidates questions about vision for the school district including bond issue planning, communication style, management and decision-making style, vision for technology, and many others. Candidates also were able to offer opening and closing statements.
There were several staff and community members present and offered feedback.
The second round process includes the following:
1. A tour of the district for the candidate.
2. An open house for public and staff to meet the candidate from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Media Center at High School.
3. Second Round Interview beginning at 6 p.m. at the Media Center at the High School.
The public is welcome to attend the open house at 4 p.m. and the interview at 6 p.m.
