Troopers from the Wayland post of the Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal car crash Wednesday evening in Monterey Township.
Police said the traffic crash, which killed one person, occurred at the intersection of 134th Avenue and 26th Street. Preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle going south on 26th Street failed to stop at 134th and struck a westbound vehicle in the intersection.
A 76-year-old man from the Allegan area has been reported to be the victim, but his name has not been released. Authorities said he was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Troopers are asking drivers in the area to find an alternate route.
