A flag on an escort vehicle grazed the 100th Street bridge around 2 p.m. Wednesday, causing a traffic backup.

The truck driver following behind, hauling a manufactured home, slowed down and moved into the left lane.

This caused a large backup on U.S. 131 northbound and the now famous 100th Street Overpass Facebook page to post “I’m so sick of this. C’mon people!”.

A spokesman for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) reported that the load barely touched the bottom of the overpass, with no damage to the bridge or the cargo.

This is the same bridge that was hit at least six times earlier this year. Crews have been working to replace two beams in the bridge since April 23.

The MDOT eventually plans to do resurfacing work on the highway to increase clearance. A full bridge replacement will come in 2020.
