Adam Plummer (left) and Project Engineer Peter Buurstra show their site plan.

The Dorr Township Planning Commission Tuesday evening approved a site plan submitted by Plummer’s Environmental for a truck storage facility at 4776 12th St.

The parcel, zoned industrial, is on the extreme northeast part of the township, just across the street from Electric Avenue in Leighton Township and the Kent County line.

Project Engineer Peter Buurstra told commissioners the 25,000-square-foot pre-engineered steel building will house up to 25 trucks the company uses at its business in Byron Township. It will include sewer and water service from the Dorr-Leighton Sewer Authority.

The business was granted relief on landscaping requirements because it will avoid disturbing wetlands at the site. However, final approval is conditional on the blessing of the Allegan County Drain Commission.

Adam Plummber, a member of the family that owns the company noted, “the “north end of the property is the Kent County line,” and he told planning commissioners the site most recently had been used by a trucking company.

Lori Castello of Professional Code Inspections, the township’s planning and zoning firm, said, “I would agree that they have done their due diligence. We didn’t see any red flags here.”

The vote to approve the site plan was 6-0.

The Planning Commissioner also had a discussion with Castello about the master plan and about proposed changes for sign ordinance regulations.
