Ex-U.S. Navy electrician Gordy Meredith dies at 62

Gordon Durelle Meredith, age 62, died Monday, Oct. 18.

Gordy served his country in the United States Navy, where he was an electrician on any ship he served on and kept the instruments working. He loved to ride his motorcycles. He would often go on rides both with just Schaorie or a group of his friends.

Gordy raised show dogs, which he made sure were spoiled rotten.

He is survived by his wife, Schaorie Meredith; stepchildren Lori McClenton, Vance (Chrystal) McClenton; grandsons Amadeus and Demitrious; honorary children Jason Kronewitter, Amanda Klein, and Ken Kronewitter; best friends Brian Proctor,and Robert Vanderstel, who led “the posse” of friends he played computer games with and numerous family members and other friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Helen Meredith.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Gordy will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery in Wayland.
