U.S. Senator Gary Peters (with Navy hat) stopped in earlier this week at the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters Training Center in Wayland “to learn about their program and discuss how we can ensure more Michiganders have the skills for good-paying jobs. In the Senate, I’ve passed a law to expand apprenticeship opportunities for veterans because I know how important they are.” Peters was doing a motorcycle tour through West Michigan as part of his campaign for re-election. He is opposed in the Nov. 3 general election by Republican John James.

Why is it we don't hear or see Senator Peters for 5+ years and he starts showing up just before the election. Of course he would visit a union training center, which he had nothing to do with until now. As your hero Hillary Clinton said, "Democrats are so stupid. They are easy to manipulate" Guess Sen. Peters thinks the same way. Look at his voting record and slate of accomplishments ... keep looking .... right, he has very little to offer for your support. He misses votes regularly and his committee meetings. I guess he is working hard for himself.

Some commenters are allowed to lie or may be so gullible they believe everything they read and hear in the right wing echo chamber. Might be some are made up to justify vitriolic rage. For example, when and where did Hillary Clinton say, “Democrat’s are so stupid. They are easy to manipulate.” When? Got a month and a year? Where was the alleged disparaging remark made? What state? What city? What is the source? Was it heard in a personal conversation in person by the person making the claim? Was it heard on political talk radio or cable network? If so, which one? I suspect it’s a “A lot of people” or “They say” or “I heard“ mythical quote that’s become truth because it’s been repeated so much by a portion of Americans who dislike the former Presidential candidate, former Secretary of State and former U.S. Senator. All Hillary Clinton’s titles are “former.” She’s not on the November ballot and is not currently serving in any federal capacity. Yet Hillary Clinton’s name is still used by “conservatives” as a dog whistle to gin up anger. U.S. Senator Gary Peters is a grinder like his predecessor, Carl Levin. He doesn’t show up to all subcommittee meetings because they are often scheduled specifically to create a scheduling conflict by the majority for the minority members. That’s done to create a campaign issue for candidates like John James. (If one paid attention, an earlier version of the John James approved ad said Senator Peters was “chairman.” It was corrected after several weeks since minority party members are never chairman.) Senator Peters isn’t a member of the GOP majority and didn’t vote for a symbolic small business assistance package because it was symbolic. not large enough and not available for enough small businesses. Another GOP dog and pony show to create a campaign issue for GOP challengers like John James. I am interested to see if candidate James is in favoring repealing the federal rules on requiring companies doing business with the federal government to have a minimum number of suppliers be minority and/or owned by females. John James took over as president of James Group International (JGI), an auto parts aggregator, assembly operation that supplies companies like Fiat Chrysler, Toyota, GM with completed units of automotive components. It was founded by his father, a former upper level Chrysler supply chain specialist who took advantage of those required Federal minority ownership to get a minimum number of minority owned businesses as suppliers. John James' mother is also an owner, so JGI can also check the female ownership box that gives advantages to female-owned businesses. Candidate James has been as quiet as a church mouse on that topic. Candidate James also has not been saying he’s supporting President Trump 110% any longer, has no comment on his wife being hired as a VP for Ada MI-based Amway in 2019, nor has he commented on his campaign accepting in excess of $1M from Better Michigan Fund, a political funding aggregator run by Dick DeVos Jr. that’s got the majority of its donations from the DeVos family and upper level management from companies the DeVos family owns. The more Senator Peters works like his predecessor, former US Senator Levin, the better. For all of us.
