Wayland High School foreign exchange student, Olha Shenkarenko, from the European country Ukraine, spoke to Contemporary World Literature class members, who are reading “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” to break the common stereotypes about the Islamic faith. Olha spoke from her personal experience as a Muslim woman. Olha’s presentation connected to one of big ideas taught in Contemporary World Literature. Teacher Andrea Brown calls her “pretty darn awesome.” (Photo supplied)
