There’s good new news and bad news for the undefeated Martin varsity football team.
First, the good news. The Clippers remained unbeaten Friday night with a convincing 28-0 victory over Bellevue in the opening round of the post-season playoffs in Division 1 of the Eight-Man category. They beat the same team 20-12 in their first game last August, so it can be argued they’ve gotten even better.
The bad news: Martin will face a daunting task in the second round at 1 p.m. Saturday at Colon, which perhaps is the best eight-man team in all of Michigan. The Magi not only are 10-0, they have put up a whopping 522 points against just 38. They and Martin are the only teams to beat a very good Climax-Scotts outfit.
