
The Martin girls’ track team finished fourth Friday in the John Green Mendon Invitational, scoring 59 points. Union City won with 153.5.
The Martin boys scored 13 points and were eighth in the eight-team field.
The bulk of the scoring came from distance ace sophomore Veyda Conley, who won the 1600- and 3200-meter runs. Her time in the 1600 was 5:41.28 and she crossed the finish line in the 3200 at 12:04.21. She also anchored the 3200-meter relay quartet that came in second with Emily King, Kayden Jager and Torryn Harris in 11:28.73.
Torryn Harris took a fifth in the 200-meter dash. She was third in the 400 and teammate Sara Schipper was fourth.
Schipper added a fourth in the 1600.
DuRae Sage was sixth in the 3200. King captured a third in the 300-meter hurdles.
King, Jager, Schipper and Harris hooked up to place fourth in the 1600-meter relay.
Schipper turned in a fourth-place finish in the high jump.
For the boys,Peyton Schuring-Harris grabbed a second place finish in the shot put at 44-06 and he was eighth in the discus.
Jadon Dettmann was sixth and Hunter Hayes seventh in the 3200-meter run. Dettman, Hayes, Gari Salvador-Garcia and Jeremiah VanHouten turned in a fourth-place finish in the 3200-meter relay. Deegan Fennema was seventh in the pole vault.
