It is believed the Ford Taurus in the lower left corner of the photo was the car driven by the victim of the fatality near the Martin exit on U.S.-131.

Michigan State Police report that a 48-year-old man from Vicksburg was killed on U.S.-131 late Friday afternoon near the Martin exit (No. 55).

The incident happened between 4:30 and 5 p.m.. Michigan State Police from the Wayland post said, in a news release, that the man was traveling southbound and then parked his vehicle off the shoulder of the expressway. Witnesses told troopers the man got out of his vehicle and walked near oncoming traffic when he was hit by a semi-truck.

First responders arrived on the scene and attempted First Aid, but were unsuccessful: he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name has yet to be released until the family is notified.

It also appears a minor rear-ending happened in the Northbound lane.

Authorities say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the incidents. Personnel from the Martin Township Fire Department and the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office assisted MSP.
