Hopkins fell behind early and staged a furious second half rally, but fell short in a tough 58-56 loss to Tri-Unity Christian at home Tuesday night in a non-conference basketball game.
The Vikings had a miserable start, trailing 20-13 at the end of the first period and 36-24 at the half. They closed the gap to 46-39 at the end of the third quarter and made it really close in the last eight minutes, only to fall short.
The loss dropped Hopkins’ overall season record to 8-9.
Senior guard Ryan Pierce paced the Vikings’ offensive attack with 18 points, Grant Stevens added 11 and Tyler Schulz 10.
Braydon Sherrod had 12 points for Tri-Unity, now 7-9 overall, and Willie O’Toole had 11.
