The Hopkins boys’ varsity bowling team improved to 6-0 in dual matches this season and the girls moved to 4-2 with O-K Silver Conference victories Monday over NorthPointe Christian.
The boys won their encounter 24-6 and the Lady Vikings prevailed 27.5 to 2.5.
NorthPointe boys took the first Baker game 151 to 150 and gained four points right away in the match. Hopkins came back in the second Baker, 216 to 119, taking total pins and four points to take a 6-4 lead going into match play.
Hopkins took all match points and total pins in the first match play contest. The Vikings rolled a 942 total pins to North Pointe Christians 674. Drew Osborn took a point with a 174, Terry Thomas took a point with a 177, Joe Bala took a point with a 172, while Zach Mohr bowled a 204 and Brenden Gossman rolled a 215, both taking points.
In the second match, Hopkins earned three of five points, and total pins and combined game pins. Sophomore Brenden Gossman bowled a 235 taking a point, and Mike Schumacher, along with Ryan Hoeksema took point as well, both with 180 scores. Meanwhile, the Hopkins girls came out of the gate rolling respectable Baker games 154 and 152, taking all available Baker points and they led 10-0 going into match play, where the Lady Vikings took four of five match points, and total pins.
Highlights of the first game came from Hannah Wubben who rolled the match high game with a 180 and took the point. Cheyenne Miller, Weronika Gladka, Courtney Tortorelli all took their point as well with Courtney adding a 144 to go along with Hannah’s high score.
In the second match 3.5 points were taken by Hopkins. Wubben tied her opponent and took half a point, while Miller rolled a 175, taking a point. The other point was won by Jenny Rietman’s 130 and Betsy Hyde’s 179.
For North Pointe Christian Lydia France took 2 of the 2.5 points for her team.
