The Hopkins boys’ varsity bowling team Wednesday suffered its first dual match loss of the season, 17-13 to O-K Silver Conference rival Kelloggsville.

The Rockets came out of the Baker games leading 10-0. The Vikings, facing adversity, then rallied behind each other to take four of five match points. All five of the Hopkins bowlers rolled a 200-plus game, storming back to cut the deficit to 3 points, being down 11-8.

The Vikings kept the momentum alive, knowing that they could only give away three points in order to take the match.

“All five bowlers came in and did a wonderful job bowling their hearts out with three of the bowlers taking match points,” said coach Patrick O’Dell.

In the second match Hopkins out was outlasted by 30 pins which gave Kelloggsville a hard fought battle win.
