The Hopkins girls’ bowling team rallied from a 10-0 deficit after the Baker games Tuesday to tie North Pointe Christian 15-15 in an O-K Silver Conference dual match.

The Viking boys, meanwhile, cruised to a 28-2 victory over the short-handed Mustangs.

North Pointe Christian girls outshot Hopkins 301 to 270 in the Bakers, but the Lady Vikings came back in the first individual matches taking two points out of five. Two impressive games came from ace Hazel Smith who rolled a 191 striking out in the 10th frame.

Betsy Hyde was impressive in the first match with a high game of 204. Hopkins took total pins with an 812 series to the Mustangs’ 758, so after the first head to head Hopkins was still down 13-6.

The Lady Vikings took three of five points in the second encounter, with Hyde taking a point again for her team, and Jenny Rietman took another point for her Vikings. High game of the day went to Courtney Tortorelli, who rolled a 210 game beating her opponent by 14 pins.

Though North Pointe was short one boys’ bowler in the match they battled all day. Hopkins boys took both Baker games and all 10 points. Hopkins boys came out in the first match and rolled a 944 series. Mikee Schumacher (137), Chris Tortorelli (174), Zach Mohr (192), and Brenden Gossman (255) all managed to take a point while Drew Osborn (186) contributed to the point total.

After first match Hopkins led 18-1. In the second match Hopkins managed to take 3 match points, total pins and total pins in the game.

High game for the second match went to Ryan Hoeksema who rolled a 246.
