Viking girls runners-up, boys 3rd in 1st Silver meet

The Hopkins boys’ cross-country team fielded a full lineup in the first O-K Silver Conference meet of the season, at Rogue River Park and the girls’ squad was runner-up.

The Lady Vikings finished just three points behind perennial league power Sparta, 58 to 61, and Belding was a point back of Hopkins at 62.

Senior Jaeden Harshberger paced the Vikings with a five-kilometer time of 22:20.97 and junior Kambria Moored also was among the top 10 individual runners, checking in sixth at 22:47.31.

Rounding out the scoring were sophomore Allison Breining 16th, senior Abigail Zalis 17th and freshman Lillian Dewey 19th.

The Viking boys were just eight points behind runner-up NorthPointe Christian and three points ahead of Belding. Sparta, to no one’s surprise won the boys’ race with just 26 points.
