Hopkins girls checked in first in the Comstock Invitational track meet Monday evening and the Vikings boys brought home a third-place trophy.

The Lady Vikings scored 142 points to take first ahead of Wayland. The boys had 131 points, just five fewer than runner-up Benton Harbor.

Meghan Schulz was a double winner for the day, taking the shot put at 35-07 and the discus at 107-03.

Brittney Houseman won the 100-meter dash in 13.15 seconds and was second in the long jump at 15-02.

Jasmine Fisher won the 1600-meter run in 5:46 and was third in the 3200.

The other champ for the Lady Vikings was the 4×400 relay with Madeline Krcatovich, Gracie DeZeeuw, Cassidy Finney and Laura Velderman, in 4:26.9. The 4×800 relay was second with Fisher, Madison Snoeyink, DeZeeuw and Velderman, in 10:32.73.

The 800 relay was third with Houseman, Savannah Emaus, Krcatovich and Velderman.

Rausch also picked up a third in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and Finney was third in the 400.

Winner for the boys were Logan Blank in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.31 seconds) and Nathan Roberts in the shot put (41-04).

Dan Rausch captured second in the 800 and was fourth in the 400, with personal best times. Todd Henley took second in the 3200, as did Carson Timm in the 100. Cyrus Miner was third in the high hurdles.

Trey Collins, only a freshman, is emerging as one of the better pole vaulters. He took second with a vault of 10-06, a personal best. He also was third in the long jump.

A couple of relay foursomes were runners-up, including Cole Bergman, Blank, Hunter Lewellyn and Timm in the 4×200 and Rausch, Nick Belka, Brandon DeGroot and Lewellyn in the 4×400. The 4×100 was third with Timm, Michael McKenzie, Blank and Bergman.

The Viking boys and girls, coached by Brooke Brenner, Molly Klump and Jamie Kiss, will compete in the Division 3 regional meet this weekend.
