The Hopkins girls’ varsity bowling team Saturday captured first place in the Fruitport Invitational Tournament at Northway Lanes in Muskegon.
Qualifying for elimination was split into two pools — Pool A and Pool B determined by school size. The boys qualified third in Pool B. They won their first set of Bakers eliminating Orchard View, but ended up losing their second set against Muskegon Oakridge.
The boys team placed fourth overall. Jonathon Ryan had high series of the day with scores of 213, 235, and 226 placing him second on the All-Tournament Team. Other top scores for the day were Brenden Gossman with 227 and 210 and Matt Cleypool with 204.
