Viking guys lose to state-ranked Godwin Heights, 70-51

Wyoming GodwHopkins Vikings Logoin Heights, ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press state Class B rankings, defeated Hopkins 70-51 Friday night in an O-K Silver Conference matchup.

The Wolverines, upset once by North Pointe Christian earlier this for their only loss, took control early with a 21-11 lead after one quarter and they were up 37-27 at intermission. They widened the gap slightly during the second half.

The loss dropped Hopkins’ overall season record to 8-10, 4-4 in the O-K Silver Conference.

Senior guard Ryan Pierce led the Vikings with 12 points, Grant Stevens added 11 and Tyler Schulz 10.

All-state candidate Delaney Blaylock led Godwin, now 16-1 overall and 7-1 in the league, with 20 points and Lamar Norman had a dozen.
