Hopkins High School senior guard Ryan Pierce won the individual state championship in three-point shooting for the 2014-15 season.
The plaque shown here was sent to Pierce, recognizing he had the best three-point shooting percentage of all high school varsity players in Michigan during regular competition.
Pierce was invited to take part in a special three-point shooting competition during the state finals for all four classes in March. He did not win that contest, but still had the best overall performance in 20-plus games. In one contest last winter, he drilled nine three-pointers for coach Darrin Smith’s Vikings.
Pierce, who also was the starting quarterback on the Viking varsity football team, just last week signed on the dotted line to play hoops for Davenport University after he graduates later this month at Hopkins High School.
