It was a rough day for the Hopkins varsity volleyball team Saturday at the Cereal City Invitational.

The Lady Vikings did not manage to win any of four matches for the day.

Hopkins lost to Marshall 25-16 and 25-16 in the opening round of pool play, came back to split with Athens 18-25 and 27-26 and then lost to Kalamazoo Central 25-15 and 25-14.

The Lady Vikings lost their only match in the Bronze Bracket, 25-20 and 29-27 to Renaissance.

Hannah Van de Roovaart had 48 assists for the day, Mikayla Bulich had 5 aces and Lexi Merren 3. Merren led the way in kills with 27, and Meghan Schulz notched 17, Schulz had 5 blocks and Merren and Macy Arndt 3, and Merren came up with 38 digs, Mikayla Bulich 19, Van de Roovaart and Hailey Shank 17 apiece.

Hopkins’ overall season record now is 10-10-2.
