Vikings’ 4-run rally in the 5th inning sparks victory

The Hopkins baseball team erupted for four runs in the fifth inning Monday to take a 4-1 come-from-behind victory over Belding.

The victory lifted the Vikings’ record in the O-K Silver Conference to 2-0.

Hopkins trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth when Brock Eller laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring two runs.

Belding captured the lead in the first inning. A wild pitch by Zach Brechting scored the one run.

Brechting earned the win for the Vikings. He threw six and a third innings, surrendering one run, four hits, and striking out 13. Alex Steffes recorded the last two outs to earn the save.
Eller, Austin Black and Brechting each had one hit to lead Hopkins offensively.
