Vikings boys and girls both lose to Calvin Christian in hoops

The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team came up on the short end of a 72-61 score at Grandville Calvin Christian Friday night.

The Vikings, with the loss, fell to 3-6 overall on the season and their record in the O-K Silver Conference is 2-2. Calvin Christian now is 6-2.

Curtis Opatik led Hopkins with 11 points. Nate Knee and Blake VerBeek both scored 19 points for the Squires.

The Hopkins girls’ squad later in the evening lost 60-47 to Calvin Christian and their record overall slipped to 2-7.
