The Hopkins boys’ bowling team hoists the runner-up trophy at the Cedar Springs Invitational.

Hopkins boys bowling team took second place Saturday in the Cedar Springs Invitational at Westgate Bowling Center.

After two individual games and six Baker games, the Vikings qualified sixth out of 16 teams to go into the elimination round. The first pair of baker games in the elimination round they split with Class A Jenison, the third seed, 223-179 then 194-226 beating Jenison overall by 12 pins.
Progressing onto the next round of baker they bowled against first seeded South Christian, winning that pair 194-191 and 181-168. Progressing onto the championship round, they faced second seed Caledonia, splitting that pair of Bakers 194-190 and 181-192, losing total pins by seven for second place.
Mike Schumacher from Hopkins took 10th and placed on the All-Tournament team.
Hopkins girls team is they qualified to go into the elimination round in fifth place. They were eliminated in the first round. Hazel Smith made the All-Tournament team for the Lady Vikings.
