The Hopkins varsity baseball team hammered Bloomingdale 20-0 in four innings Tuesday afternoon in a Division 3 pre-district encounter.

Zach Brechting didn’t allow a single hit.

Hopkins first scored on a double by Broc Eller and a single by Zach Brechting in the first inning.

The Vikings scored 12 runs in the fourth inning on a error, a walk by Elijah Norman, a walk by Alex Steffes, a walk by Brechting, a double by Tyler Zomerlei, a single by Drew Osborn, a error, and a single by Steffes.
Hopkins collected 13 hits. Zomerlei, Brenden Gossman, and Ethan Nagel each collected multiple hits. Norman, Brechting, Eller, and Zomerlei each drove in three runs.

The Vikings, now 18-4-1 for the season, move on to the district tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday to take on tourney host Gobles. Fennville and Saugatuck will play in the other district semifinal at noon. The final game will be at 2 p.m.
