The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team defeated Plainwell Tuesday night 55-38 in a non-league contest to improve to 9-4 on the season overall.
Senior Tyler Zomerlei led the Vikings with 20 points. Colin Weber chipped in 10, and Drew Weber and freshman Tristen Perry added 7 apiece.
“We executed well vs. their zone and got out in transition to generate points,” explained coach Jake Jewett.
The girls’ team, however, lost to the Trojans 53-35, and their overall record sank to 7-6.
The Hopkins boys’ and girls’ teams will play Friday evening at Godwin Heights to begin their second round of O-K Silver Conference play. The boys are 5-1 in the league and the girls are 4-2.
